India won the first game by just 2 runs.

The T20I series between India and Sri Lanka kick-started on Tuesday (3rd January). It was a game that went down the wire but saw the young Indian side displaying magnificent grit and courage to win the game and take a 1-0 lead in the series. The focus now shifts towards the second and the third T20I, which will be played on 5th January in Pune and 7th January in Rajkot respectively.

2 Changes India might do for the second T20I against Sri Lanka

The second game of the series is just a day away now. It was a clinical performance from India’s end as they bagged the game by just 2 runs. A few areas of concern were there too that they would want to rectify in the second game. Let’s take a look at 2 Changes India might do for the second T20I against Sri Lanka.

Arshdeep Singh replacing Harshal Patel

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh missed the first game due to illness. It is almost certain that he will be back in the mix for the second game. With Shivam Mavi and Umran Malik producing a staggering performance in the first game it is unlikely that would miss. Therefore Harshal Patel’s place in the side comes under scanner. The pacer hasn’t been quite up to the mark of late with his performance and is leaking runs at a poor economy. He conceded 41 runs in the first game as well, which was one of the main reasons Sri Lanka came close to the target. It is expected that he will make it for Arshdeep in the second game.

Rahul Tripathi in place of Sanju Samson

The second change that India might do for the second T20I against Sri Lanka is they can bring Rahul Tripathi in place of Sanju Samson. Tripathi has been in the side for a while but is yet to make his debut. The Kerala batter on the other hand failed to grab the opportunity in the first game as he threw his wicket in the first game and scored just 4 runs. Also with India displaying an aggressive game, Tripathi could well prove out to be a game-changer for India with the kind of style he possesses. He had a staggering domestic season and therefore could be in line to make his debut in the second game.
