Chennai Super Kings have already booked their spot in the playoffs of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, but they have one league match remaining still. That game is against the Punjab Kings team which is scheduled to happen on October 7 that is Thursday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. CSK and PBKS will battle in the afternoon.
The fans should note it is the last afternoon match in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, and the Chennai Super Kings will try their level best to win the match. If the Super Kings win, they will be assured of a place in the Top 2, irrespective of other results. Given that this is the last match before the playoffs, the Super Kings might want to try one or two benched players. So, in this article today, we will look at the two changes that the Chennai-based franchise may make for their final league match in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League against the Punjab Kings.
1. Suresh Raina in, Robin Uthappa out
Robin Uthappa replaced Suresh Raina in the playing XI for the match against the Delhi Capitals because the latter was dealing with a knee injury. MS Dhoni revealed at the toss that Raina had a bad knee, hence the left-handed batter did not make it to the playing XI for the game against DC.
Former IPL Orange Cap winner Robin Uthappa made his debut for the Chennai Super Kings but he was not so impressive. CSK will be keen to ensure that Raina plays a game in the league stage before the playoffs. Hence, they may drop Robin and bring Rain back in the playing XI.
2. Will CSK give Imran Tahir a game?
There was a time when Imran Tahir was the premier leg-spinner of the Chennai Super Kings. However, in the IPL 2021’s UAE leg so far, the Chennai Super Kings have majorly used Ravindra Jadeja in their spin attack.
CSK have decent options in their pace attack, with the likes of Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and DJ Bravo. So, there is a 1% chance that Hazlewood might make way for Imran Tahir if the team management wants to give a chance to Tahir.
