The series will be crucial for Australia as they after a series loss against India came under a lot of scanner. As the Ashes 2023 is around the corner, let’s take a look at 2 Australian players might be dropped from the Squad for Ashes 2023:

Matthew Renshaw

Australia brought in Mathew Renshaw for the Test series against India. The batter didn’t live up to the expectations in that game and failed dramatically. Therefore it is expected that he won’t be part of the Australian squad for the series against England. He bagged ducks against India as well and was also preferred ahead of Travis Head and that move backfired as well. He also doesn’t have a good record with the bat as in 14 games he has amassed just 645 runs at a low average of 29.32.

Todd Murphy

Todd Murphy was the find of Australia during their tour to India. He performed extremely well and troubled Indian batters a lot. But with Ashes slated to take place in England, it is likely that he won’t be part of Australian setup. The Pat Cummins-led side prefers to go with the combination of four pacers and Nathan Lyon as the lone spinner in the team. Despite Murphy having a good record it’s likely that due to the conditions, he won’t find a place in the team for the Ashes.
