Chennai bagged their ninth victory of the tournament as they thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably in a low-scoring affair. The game was capped off by an impeccable six from Dhoni who has pulled off this stunt on multiple occasions.
Premium Australian express bowler, Josh Hazlewood broke the spine of the Sunrisers batting line-up as he claimed three important wickets in the form of Jason Roy, Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad.
The story of the game
Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja perfectly complemented Hazlewood with a tight line and wickets at regular intervals that confined Sunrisers to a modest 134.
Coming out to chase, Chennai’s opening partnership once again came ablaze as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis continued with their sublime form, stitching together a decent stand of 86 runs.
However, once the opening partnership was broken, things started unravelling way too fast for Chennai as they lost their next three wickets in quick succession with Moeen Ali, Raina and du Plessis coming apart at the seams.
With all said and done, it is an unstated fact that despite Dhoni has aged unlike fine wine and has struggled a lot throughout the ongoing edition of the tournament, he was still one of the finest finishers of his time.
He and Ambati Rayudu came together to stabilize the ship and delivered a fine partnership between them to seal the deal for Chennai Super Kings.
Dhoni whipped his signature maximum to seal the fate of the game as a hapless Siddharth Kaul was left as a mere onlooker. He bowled a fuller delivery coming round the stumps and Dhoni moved his front legs and whacked it into the stands in style.
Here is what Harsha said about Dhoni
Harsha Bhogle couldn’t refrain himself from posting a beautiful tweet for Dhoni’s classic strike as he quoted, “Dhoni and a six to finish. The story isn’t over yet…..”

One would definitely not forget how Mahi won India the World Cup after 28 years with a cracker of a six over long-on.
