The Indian selectors announced the squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against the South African cricket team. Many big names returned to the T20I squad, while some uncapped stars received their maiden call-up to the national team. One of the biggest news stories emerging out of it was the return of Dinesh Karthik to the Indian cricket team.

Karthik was dropped from the ODI and T20I squads after the 2019 Cricket World Cup. While his form in ODIs was not the best, his T20I numbers were good, and fans always questioned why he was left out of the squad. Karthik worked hard and scored heaps of runs for Tamil Nadu and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Most importantly, Karthik proved himself as a finisher who can change the game in a matter of a few deliveries. He has scored runs consistently for the Royal Challengers Bangalore after coming in a difficult situation, and that too against some of the best bowling attacks in T20 cricket.

The Indian cricket team will return to action for the first time since March 2022 next month against the South African cricket team. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, and Axar Patel will be seen in the Indian jersey again, while Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik have received their maiden call-ups.
