Wrestling veteran Matt Morgan recently weighed in on the possibility of Stone Cold Steve Austin making a dramatic return at WWE WrestleMania XL to confront The Rock.
The legendary rivalry between The Texas Rattlesnake and The Brahma Bull is etched in WWE history, having squared off multiple times, including three iconic clashes at WrestleMania. Despite Austin’s retirement nearly two decades ago, he made a surprise comeback in 2022 to defeat Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38.
Meanwhile, The Rock has recently re-entered the WWE storyline, teaming up with Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. Rumors suggest a tag team match at WrestleMania XL, where The Rock and Reigns will take on Rhodes and Rollins.
On the Gigantic Pop podcast, Matt Morgan floated the idea of The Bloodline prevailing over Rhodes and Rollins on Night One of WrestleMania, followed by an attack on The American Nightmare. Co-host Raj Giri then proposed the thrilling notion of Stone Cold Steve Austin making an unexpected appearance to confront The Brahma Bull and rescue Rhodes, eliciting excitement from Morgan for the potential crowd reaction.
“While it would be a massive pop, we’ve seen WWE excel at creating new stars lately,” Morgan acknowledged, highlighting the promotion’s recent focus on developing homegrown talent.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Stone Cold Steve Austin himself addressed the prospect of returning to in-ring competition, refusing to rule out the possibility after his triumphant comeback against Owens at WrestleMania 38.
“At 57, headlining the first night of WrestleMania was something I never thought possible. So, I’m not closing the door on anything. You never say never in this unpredictable world of sports entertainment,” Austin remarked.
While another match between The Rock and The Texas Rattlesnake may seem unlikely, the idea of them sharing the ring once again is enough to set fans’ imaginations alight with anticipation.
