WWE has wrapped up WrestleMania season and is already looking toward the future with some extravagant PLEs planned for the coming months, starting with WWE Backlash. Set to take place in France on May 4th next month, it is being anticipated to be one of the most spectacular editions of the PLE show after major success in Puerto Rico last year.
With much excitement already for the show, here are 5 predictions for the matches that can happen at WWE Backlash 2024:
1. WWE Backlash 2024 Predictions – Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan has had her issues with Rhea Ripley ever since The Eradicator injured her shoulder and put her on the sidelines last year. The tensions escalated after Liv failed to secure a Women’s title opportunity against Ripley at WrestleMania, yet declaring the ‘Liv Morgan Revenge Tour’ with Mami being her prime target.

The start of the tour was very much evident on the RAW after WrestleMania 40 when Liv Morgan attacked Rhea Ripley backstage, possibly planting the seeds of a WWE Women’s World championship bout between them at WWE Backlash.
2. WWE Backlash 2024 Predictions – Bayley vs Asuka
Following Bayley’s triumph over IYO Sky at WrestleMania 40 for the WWE Women;s championship, an old rivalry could be reignited with former multi-time champion, Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow could step in place of IYO to avenge her loss and try to bring back the championship to the Damage CTRL faction in a high-stakes title match against Bayley at the event in France.
3. Sami Zayn vs GUNTHER vs Chad Gable
Sami Zayn had some credit due to bestow upon Chad Gable for helping him train and remain motivated heading into WrestleMania 40, where he defeated GUNTHER to end his longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental title reign. Moving forward, as Sami and Gable collide for the title next week on RAW, the match could see the re-emergence of The Ring General after a huge loss and taking out both men.

This could set the stage for WWE Backlash, where Sami Zayn would be scheduled to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against both Chad Gable and GUNTHER.
4. Grayson Waller and Austin Theory vs Kevin Owens and Randy Orton
On the road to WrestleMania 40 where Randy Orton and Kevin Owens went up against Logan Paul in pursuit of his WWE United States title, The Maverick found support in the form of Grayson Waller and Austin Theory who supported him.
Following both Orton and Owens’ failing to capture the US title at The Show of Shows, they could join forces and turn their focus towards the SmackDown tag team titles, which Waller and Theory won at the same show at WWE Backlash.
5. Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles
The reign of the new Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes has ushered after the culmination of his long-destined story. This would set the tone for Rhodes to take up his duties as a fighting champion, as he always envisioned, and would welcome his very first challenger.
Entering the fray, Rhodes’ exceptional reign would meet a Phenomenal opponent for his first title defense, AJ Styles. Considering their history and star power, the former Bullet Club members could be slated for one of the most highly anticipated matches in the history of WWE in the front of the French audience at WWE Backlash.
