“Would they pay MI to let him sit out this season” – Twitter reacts as Indian team management is likely to monitor Jasprit Bumrah’s workload in IPL

India’s premier paceman Jasprit Bumrah has been away from cricketing action for quite a long time now. The right-arm paceman was earlier ruled out of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year.

Jasprit Bumrah was expected to return to action for Sri Lanka ODIs. However, the Indian team management decided not to risk playing him in the games, keeping the ICC WTC final and ICC ODI World Cup in mind.

Team India have been performing really well in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against the Aussies. They have also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy with a special win in the Delhi Test match.

India will have to produce one more win in the series in order to secure a spot in the ICC WTC final. So far, things have gone quite well for Team India and they will surely require Bumrah’s services in the mega events later this year.

For the record, the final of the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship will be staged at The Oval, London from June 7 to 11. On the other hand, the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup is slated to be held in the October-November window.

According to a source from Cricbuzz, Indian team management is likely to keep a tab on Jasprit Bumrah’s workload in the Indian Premier League, with the WTC final and ICC ODI WC scheduled this year.

Jasprit Bumrah might as well make a difference by adding a great deal of dimension to the team’s bowling line-up. Perhaps, Bumrah might not be allowed to play many games in the upcoming IPL.

The top-tier paceman has taken 128 wickets in Tests, 121 wickets in One-Day Internationals and 70 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals. On the other hand, he has taken 145 wickets in the IPL.
