“Wicket Columns Lie”- Amit Mishra Says PBKS Youngster Arshdeep Singh Has A Bright Future Ahead

The 42nd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway at the moment where the Lucknow Super Giants are locking horns with the Punjab Kings. It is a battle between best friends KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. A former teammate of Rahul and a current star of PBKS, Arshdeep Singh, bowled a magnificent spell against LSG.

Singh has been a top performer for the Punjab Kings, but the left-arm pace bowler has not been amongst the wickets. As a result, the fans and the statisticians who look at the numbers may not understand the impact that he has made by purely looking at the numbers.

Former Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra has opined that the wicket column does not always reveal how well a bowler has bowled in a match. He felt that Arshdeep Singh has a very bright future ahead.

“Sometimes wicket columns do lie. Arshdeep Singh has been impactful for Punjab Kings once again, however he went wicketless. Looks like a talent with bright future ahead. Keep it up,” Amit Mishra wrote on Twitter after watching Arshdeep’s spell of 0/23 against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Arshdeep Singh has picked up only one wicket in his last six IPL innings

As Amit Mishra stated, the wicket column does not justify the performance of a bowler in all matches. Arshdeep has been one of the best death bowlers this season, but he has managed to take only a solitary wicket in the last six innings. Even in tonight’s match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Singh returned wicketless.

Former Indian cricket team opener Virender Sehwag opined that Arshdeep should be in the squad for the home series against South Africa scheduled to happen after IPL 2022.

“You are talking about the T20 World Cup, I would say he should get a chance in the next series against South Africa in June,” said Sehwag on Cricbuzz.
