Following India’s loss in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, BCCI has come under a lot of scrutiny. Since then the governing body has appointed a new chairman and also the selectors have been sacked as well.
There have been reports that BCCI is now trying to insist new set of players in the T20 format and also there have been various media reports suggesting that the governing body is likely to introduce split captaincy with Rohit Sharma captaining the Test and ODI team and Hardik Pandya taking the charge of T20 team.
India is currently on a tour to New Zealand, where they won the T20I series under the leadership of Hardik Pandya and are currently playing the ODI series under Shikhar Dhawan. The senior players weren’t part of the series and will join the team for the upcoming Bangladesh tour, which will begin from 4th December.
However, ahead of Team India’s departure to Bangladesh, a media report has suggested that BCCI will hold a meeting with Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and former selectors related to the T20 team and also skipper may be asked to step down as coach.
The reports said: “The BCCI has called on Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, Virat and former selectors for a special meeting before departure on Bangladesh tour. Rohit Sharma may be asked to step down from T20s with Hardik Pandya taking charge. Special coach for the T20 team is also on the agenda of the meeting.”
