Chetan Sharma re-applies for the BCCI selectors job – Reports

The poor result in the T20 World Cup 2022 made newly appointed BCCI President Roger Binny sack the whole selection committee. The governing body then invited applications for as many as five posts.

And it is learned as per the reports in Indian Express that a total of 60 candidates have applied for the posts. However, the report also suggested that former selector Chetan Sharma has also re-applied for the same along with his partner Harvinder Singh. Whereas Sunil Joshi and Debasish Mohanty, who were part of the previous committee haven’t applied.

The deadline for the submission of applications was 28th November and it is likely in the coming weeks BCCI will announce the new selection committee. The criteria for the applicant were he should haveplayed 7 Test matches or 30 First Class matches or 10 ODI and 20 First Class matches. And also he should have retired from the game of cricket at least 5 years ago.

It’s fair to say that Chetan and his panel’s performance was not up to the mark and which is the main reason why BCCI didn’t extend their tenure. It remains to be seen if Chetan gets back his position or not.
