“Was because of the wicket…” – David Warner gives a justifiable explanation behind not bowling Axar Patel against GT

Delhi Capitals’ ongoing campaign didn’t kick-start properly. They started their journey with a bitter defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants in their opening fixture in Lucknow.

They lost the game by 50 runs in their first game. After that, they locked horns with Gujarat Titans in the next game at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. As it turned out, the hosts did put up a great fight.

However, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans had the last laugh in the battle. Gujarat Titans got the better of Delhi Capitals by six wickets in 18.1 overs to make it two wins in a row.

Axar Patel was the pick of the batters for Delhi Capitals in the batting unit. He provided some spark down the pecking order to help the team post a commendable total on the board.

David Warner reveals the reason behind not bowling Axar Patel against GT

Axar Patel scored 36 off 22 balls with the help of 2 fours and three hits over the fence. However, he was not used by David Warner as a bowler against Gujarat Titans.

Delhi Capitals did put up disciplinary bowling performance with the help of Anrich Nortje, Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav. Shockingly, Axar Patel was not brought into the attack in the first place.

After the game, David Warner was criticized for not using Axar Patel in the bowling plans. To which, Warner added that Axar Patel didn’t bowl because of the wicket.

After the game, former Indian pacer, RP Singh, while speaking to Jio slammed Delhi Capitals for going ahead with too many pacers and failing to rotate their best available pacers.

Delhi Capitals lost the first two games of this season and they will surely be looking to turn things around in the upcoming game. Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in the eleventh match of the 16th edition of the IPL. The game will kick off at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Saturday.
