Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings are two teams that have had contrasting fortunes in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. While CSK have almost qualified for the IPL 2021 playoffs, PBKS have low chances of finishing in the Top 4.
Both CSK and PBKS have strong squads. However, CSK have performed with much better consistency. Fans have been wondering the reason behind the same, and recently, a Twitter user came up with an explanation, pointing out one of the things that the Chennai Super Kings have done much better than the Punjab Kings.
Have Punjab Kings failed to utilize Nicholas Pooran properly?
The Chennai Super Kings struggled last year, but have been on fire in IPL 2021. One of the primary reasons behind their success has been England all-rounder Moeen Ali. The left-handed batter has given some much-needed momentum to the CSK team in their batting innings. Meanwhile, PBKS have the likes of Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran in their squad, but they have failed to make an impact. A Twitter user tried to explain with the following example:
There are some players who will attack even when they are new to the crease. Such players are worth their weight in gold. Moeen and Pooran are two of those.
Look where CSK play Moeen and where KXIP play Pooran. Decisions like that win/lose games.

Moeen Ali has batted at the number three position for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021. The England all-rounder has played nine matches, scoring 261 runs at a strike rate of 145. So far in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, Ali has smacked 24 fours and 15 sixes.
On the other side, Nicholas Pooran has played ten matches for the Punjab Kings, one more than what Moeen Ali has played for Chennai Super Kings in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Pooran has scored only 70 runs. His batting average is 7.77, while his strike rate is below 115. It is pertinent to note that Pooran is a proven match-winner. However, it seems like his batting position is not allowing him to perform to his full potential.
