India Vs Pakistan rivalry is one of the most intense rivalries on the cricket field anyway, but because of the fact that these two teams don’t play regularly these days, whenever they go head-to-head in multination tournaments even at junior levels, the rivalry intensifies multiple folds.
The Indian U19 team was up against the Pakistan U19 in the U19 Asia Cup today which is currently being played in the UAE and even though the game was not broadcast live on television, the public interest from both the countries was there and the fans were following the live scorecard.
India U19 batted first and although they didn’t have a great start first up as Zeeshan Zameer managed to make inroads early with the new ball, the partnership between Harnoor Singh and Raj Bawa steadied the ship for India, before contributions from the lower order, which included a fifty from the wicketkeeper Aaradhya Yadav, powered the Indian team to 237.
It was not a pitch that was very conducive to batting and while the score India put on the board was slightly underpar, it was still a very fighting total. With the added pressure of an India Vs Pakistan game, it was always going to be a tricky chase. The Indian bowlers bowled immaculately well and stretched the game to a point where Pakistan needed 18 off the last 2 overs, with just 3 wickets in hand.
India Vs Pakistan, Asia Cup game went right down to the wire
The game went right down to the wire and with 2 needed off the last ball, the allrounder Ahmad Khan put one away over short midwicket to win the game for Pakistan. India U19, however, still remains in the tournament and will face Afghanistan U19 in their next game now.
As the game was getting to its conclusion and the equation was getting more and more tense, twitter users were really getting into it and although there was no video footage available, people were getting to know the scores and how the game was panning out through the official platforms of Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
There are very high chances of India U19 and Pakistan U19 playing again in the final of the tournament if they finish top 2 in the table. The final will be telecasted by Star Sports in India and if both these teams qualify for the final, the final is certainly going to have very high viewership.
