England has conceded a 3-0 lead to Australia in the ongoing Ashes tournament. Although they seemed to put a better show at the MCG, all of it went down the drain after the batting order collapsed yet again. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as England suffers a disappointing defeat after getting bowled out for just 68 runs.
England bowled out for just 68
England had a decent outing with the ball in the first innings of the third Test. If they could have had put on a reasonable performance with the bat, the game could have gone either side. However, the disastrous batting form of the players did not allow the Englishmen to even bring the Aussie batsmen for the second time in the game.
Overnight, England was 31-4 and they eventually got bowled out for 68. Scott Boland, who is the debutante in the game, returned with extraordinary figures. He bowled just four overs, gave away seven runs and picked six English wickets. Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green were the other wicket-takers in the innings.
For England, it was a story with the bat that did not see a change. Barring Ben Stokes and Joe Root, no player managed to get to double figures in the second innings. The likes of Jonny Bairstow and Zak Crawley, who were given a chance in this game, also failed to put on a good show. Australia eventually won the game by an innings and 14 runs.
Twitter Reacts to England’s dismal show
There are two more games in the series and as many experts pointed out, a 5-0 whitewash is on the cards. While England’s bowling has been okay, their batting show has been hard to digest even for the neutral viewers. Twitter had plenty of opinions coming from various quarters after England lost the game by an innings. We take a look at a few of them in this article:
England nowhere near good enough .. they will know that .. but seeing a 32 yr old on debut on his home turf with the Crowd going berserk is what makes Sport so special .. Well done Australia .. Far too good for England .. #Ashes @FoxCricket

A total demolition job from Australia.
England have had their gaping holes in test cricket covered for too long by two superstars, these are exposed away from home! #AshesAdvertisement— Tom Moody (@TomMoodyCricket) December 28, 2021

Feel for #Root. His batsmen are woeful… So many bad individual batting performances dating back a long time now. I personally think he should continue as captain. #ashes

No matter how many times he gets hits in his nuts, it will never hurt more than his backache from carrying this team #root #ENGvsAUS

Scott Boland. 68 all out England. 3-0 Australia. Yet again puts in context Indias achievement down under. Perhaps one of the best series wins ever.

Not very long ago. England used to be a beast in Test Cricket and India was trying to level up their overseas cricket.
People would die laughing if we even say India and Eng in the same tone.
Such is the current standard of Indian test side🇮🇳#AUSvENG #Root @MichaelVaughan 🤮— Rishi🇮🇳 (@rishi45_) December 28, 2021
