BCCI declared the squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team scheduled to happen in January 2022. Currently, the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team are playing a 3-match ICC World Test Championship series in South Africa.
The first Test match of the ICC World Test Championship series was the Boxing Day Test match which happened at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Before the Indian cricket team, no other Asian team had been able to win a Test match against the South African cricket team on that ground. The Indian cricket team made history on December 30, 2021 by defeating the South African cricket team.
It was a very important match for two wicket-keepers. One was KL Rahul, who scored a century for the Indian cricket team in his first Test as the vice-captain and the second was Quinton de Kock, who announced his retirement from Test cricket after the first Test match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the South African cricket team played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
