“Total domination,” Twitter reacts in joy as India whitewashes Sri Lanka by 2-0 in the test series

India didn't lose a single game this home season while facing New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka

Given India’s domination in test cricket all over the world in the last 5 years, there was hardly any doubt in anyone’s mind what the result of the 2-match test series between India and Sri Lanka was going to be, but the ease with which India got the job done and absolutely outplayed SL in all three facets of the game, it was magnificent to watch.

After beating Sri Lanka by an innings inside three days in the first test match in Mohali, India replicated it in the second game in Bengaluru as well and although they didn’t win the second game by an innings, they still won it by a significant margin inside three days.

The pitch in Bengaluru was a rank turner and while batting was not easy right from day one, the Indian batsmen still put more than 250 on the board in both innings and then the fast bowlers as well as the spinners did the job for India with the ball, as SL fell more than 200 runs short of the 4th innings target that was set for them.

Sri Lanka couldn’t challenge India in either red ball or white-ball cricket this home season

It was also the end of a very successful home season for India where they faced New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka across the three formats and didn’t lose even a single game. The captain Rohit Sharma has now won 14 games in a row for India since taking over the captaincy in a permanent role from Virat Kohli.

India doesn’t have to play a lot of test matches going ahead for the next one year, but whatever few they have to play, they are going to be very important test matches from the point of view of WTC final qualification. India virtually has to win every single test match now to qualify for the WTC final again.

Here is how the fans and the former Indian cricketers reacted on Twitter today after India completed a 2-0 clean sweep in the test series against Sri Lanka –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
