“This test will be known as Jadeja’s test,” Twitter reacts as the hosts win by an innings in India Vs Sri Lanka first test match

Ravindra Jadeja scored 175 runs and took 9 wickets for India across three innings of the test match

Everyone knew India were going to be a difficult challenge for Sri Lanka in a test series at home, but since the Sri Lankan players are more familiar to the subcontinent conditions in comparison to the other overseas teams, a bit of a fight was definitely expected from them in the India Vs Sri Lanka first test match.

However, as it turned out, the Indian team beat Sri Lanka completely one sided at Mohali and at no point of time did it even look like a contest. Bowling first after losing the toss, the Sri Lankan team were probably in the game for a couple of sessions before the wheels came off.

India put huge runs on the board in the first innings and then declared the innings late on day 2 when the pitch started to crumble a little bit more. However, it was still a good pitch to bat on even when Sri Lanka started their innings. But, the way the Sri Lankan batsmen batted, it just didn’t seem as if they were ready to apply themselves for long periods.

Ravindra Jadeja’s performance was the highlight in India Vs Sri Lanka first test match

For India, Ravindra Jadeja’s performance was the highlight of the game as not only did he score 175 runs with the bat in the first innings, he then got a 5-wicket haul with the ball and added cherry on top of the cake with another 4-wicket haul in the second innings.

If he had grabbed one more Sri Lankan wicket, Ravindra Jadeja would have become the first ever player in the history of Indian cricket to have scored 150 runs and taken 10 wickets in the same test match, however it wasn’t to be.

Apart from Jadeja, Rishabh Pant’s 96 and Ravichandran Ashwin‘s 4-wicket haul in the second innings were also some of the standout performances from India’s point of view.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
