“This is peak Domestic cricket”, Twitter reacts as Tamil Nadu draw the game even after scoring 108 runs in 7 overs in a 144 run-chase due to bad light

Tamil Nadu scored 108 runs in 7 overs before their chase was cut off by bad light. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Tamil Nadu draw the game even after scoring 108 runs in 7 overs in a 144 run-chase due to bad light.

Tamil Nadu draw the game due to bad light

Hyderabad made 395 runs in the first innings of the first Ranji Trophy game of the season. It was a tough score for Tamil Nadu to overtake and take the first-innings lead. However, the batters stepped up and made it easy for TN. They scored 510 runs by losing only 4 wickets and then declared. The game was heading towards a draw but the Tamil Nadu team had other ideas.

Riding on R Sai Kishore‘s five-wicket haul, the team was able to get Hyderabad all out for 258. With this, Tamil Nadu was set a target of 144 runs with just a few overs left in the game. Ideally, the teams would have settled for a draw. However, due to the emergence of T10 and T20 formats, the target was very much possible. The Tamil Nadu openers were in fine form and they had nothing to lose. Hence, they got themselves in top gear right from the word go.

Twitter reacts to the brilliant attempt

In the last few years, even Test cricket has changed with respect to how both the players and fans view the game. Earlier, Tests had a lot of subtlety but now, aggression in the game has become a vital factor. The big-hitting skills of players have improved which has now given them the confidence to do the unthinkable in Tests. A few weeks ago, England almost hit 500 runs in a single day. Rishabh Pant, whenever he bats in Tests, ensures some or the other record gets beaten. It is good that this attitude is now percolating into the Ranji Trophy. On that note, here is how Twitter reacted to Tamil Nadu’s effort against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy:
