On Friday, IPL announced the format for IPL 2022. All ten teams have been divided into two virtual groups based on the number of titles won and final games played. As per this categorization, MI, KKR, RR, DC and LSG are in Group A while CSK, SRH, RCB, PBKS and GT are in Group B. While a franchise will play twice against teams in the same group, there will be one game versus teams in the other group. There will be an additional game against the team in the same row in the other group. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the best-combined playing XI of Group A in IPL 2022.
Openers: Rohit Sharma (WK) and KL Rahul
KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will open the batting for this best-combined playing XI of Group A in IPL 2022. The duo is the first-choice opener duo even for Team India in this format. Hence, they do not face any major competition in getting a spot in this XI. Ishan Kishan misses out as he is comparatively less experienced in the league.
Middle-Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and Jos Buttler
It will be a blockbuster middle-order comprising SKY, Pant and Buttler. While SKY plays at No.3 in IPL, Pant occupies the No.4 position in both IPL and Team India right now. Going by RR’s team combination, Buttler could play in the middle-order in IPL 2022. Hence, he features in a similar role in this XI, as well.
All-Rounders: Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard
Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard will be the all-rounders in this best-combined playing XI of Group A in IPL 2022. Based on the situation of the game, the batting order will alter. Along with his batting duties, Russell should also provide four overs of his bowling. He will have to do a similar role for KKR in IPL 2022.
Bowlers: Sunil Narine, Yuzvendra Chahal, Anrich Nortje and Jasprit Bumrah
Group A has some terrific spinners and hence, we have had to leave out the likes of R Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi. Sunil Narine and Chahal will feature in this XI as the spinners. With regards to the pace attack, it will be the exciting combination of Bumrah and Nortje. Other prominent pacers like Trent Boult and Avesh Khan miss out.
