“Take a closer look at those coins,” Jimmy Neesham can’t believe New Zealand has lost 4 tosses in a row on India tour

Jimmy Neesham was a part of New Zealand's T20I squad which lost the seeries 3-0 to India

The New Zealand allrounder Jimmy Neesham is probably a bit annoyed with the fact that the Blackcaps have lost 4 tosses in a row on the ongoing tour of India. After Kane Williamson lost another toss on the first day of the first test match in Kanpur, Neesham tweeted that someone should take a closer look at the coin during the toss.

It was not a tweet that sat well with the Indian fans because India themselves have lost a lot of tosses in the recent past. In the T20 World Cup in the UAE where toss made such a massive influence on the game, India lost it in the first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand and had to bat first in tougher batting conditions than the opposition.

Even before the T20 World Cup, India lost quite a few key tosses on the England tour and even in the World Test Championship final where the conditions were not conducive to batting at all especially against the quality fast bowlers. However, none of the Indian cricketers at that time complained about the toss in such a manner as Neesham did today.

Jimmy Neesham might have been sarcastic with his tone

Neesham is, however, someone who posts a lot of funny tweets. So, it’s very much possible he might have been sarcastic with his tone, but some of the Indian fans felt as if he was raising questions over the credibility of the toss itself.

Winning the toss in the Kanpur test match was important for New Zealand as they are playing three spinners in the game, and they would have liked to bowl on a slightly deteriorated surface rather than on a day one surface which is relatively good for batting.

India, batting first, has made a good start already in the first session with the young opening batsman Shubman Gill scoring a half-century.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
