Fans on Twitter erupted in joy as Indian Cricket Team qualifies for the World Test Championship Final. They lauded the Rohit Sharma-led side for making it into the summit clash for the second consecutive time and said that for the first time New Zealand came handy for the India. They also lauded Kane Williamson for the staggering effort with the bat.

India qualifies for the World Test Championship Final for the second consecutive time 

Indian Cricket Team has officially become the second team to qualify for the World Test Championship Final. They achieved the feat for the consecutive time. Notably, they lost the last summit clash against New Zealand.

They booked their berth in the final after the game between New Zealand and Sri Lanka ended in a draw. It’s fair to say that the island nation dominated the first few days of the game and was the favourites to win the game but the rain changed their fortunes for them and paved it for Kiwis to win.

Asked to bat first, they displayed a staggering batting performance and posted a total of 355 runs on the board. They then came out all gun blazing and bowled well to put New Zealand under pressure. Sri Lanka bowled impeccable lines and lengths and reduced the hosts to 162/5. But Daryl Mitchell’s century put Black Caps just a tad ahead of the game.

But Sri Lanka yet again fought hard and a superlative batting effort from Angelo Mathews (115) made sure that momentum gets tilted towards the visitors. They set the hosts a target of 285 runs to chase.

Rain too played its part but after that New Zealand came out all guns blazing and batted staggeringly well and bagged the game to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Kane Williamson was the chief architect behind his side’s win as he scored a staggering century and guided them home.

With New Zealand’s win, India has become the second team to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. They will now face Australia at the Oval in June this year.
