Sam Curran – INR 18.50 crores – Punjab Kings 

English all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive pick in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw invited a bidding war between several teams but eventually, it was Punjab Kings who acquired him for INR 18.5 crores. The young all-rounder previously was with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 and was receiving a salary of 5.5 crores. Curran of late has been exceptional for England, winning Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2022. In 32 games he played in the league, he scored 337 runs at a strike rate of 149.73 whereas with the ball as has 32 wickets. Also, he has a hat trick in the league.

Ben Stokes – INR 16.25 crores – Chennai Super Kings 

English all-rounder Ben Stokes entered the record books in the IPL 2023 auction on Friday (23rd December) in Kochi. He was picked by four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a hefty amount of INR 16.25 crores. Stokes became the third most expensive player in the history of the auctions. He invited a bidding war between a few teams but in the end, it was the MS Dhoni-led side who managed to purchase him. This will be his third franchise in the IPL after playing for Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiants. Stokes has been one of the finest cricketers going around and it’s fair to say that his presence will be a massive boost for CSK. In the 43 games, he has scored 920 runs at a strike rate of 134.5 and also has taken 28 wickets at an economy of 8.56.

Harry Brook – INR 13.25 crores – Sunrisers Hyderabad 

The third most expensive England player in IPL Auction is young Harry Brook. He was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2022 auction for a whopping amount of INR 13.25 crores. Brook is yet to make his IPL debut but he has proved his mettle at the international stage and in franchise cricket across the globe. In 20 T20I games, the young batter has scored 372 runs at a strike rate of 137.78.
