Sarfaraz Khan went unsold in IPL 2024 Auctions. Ever since then, he has been in fine form, scoring some important runs. Yes, it is in a different format, but he has been making runs against quality opponents. Also, he recently earned an India call-up. Hence, his confidence must be at a high. Every year, IPL teams will have to go through one or two injury issues. It makes sense for the management to already draw a list of possible replacements they could pick if there are any injury concerns. On that note, here, we take a look at two franchises that must target Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement if there are any injury problems.

1) Lucknow Super Giants

LSG has a good batting line-up but they do not have good backups. Both Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni are not in great form and it is not sure if Devdutt Padikkal can replicate his domestic form at the IPL level.

Sarfaraz Khan is a good player of spin. He has played a lot at Lucknow before, having been a former Uttar Pradesh Ranji cricketer. Hence, he would be a good backup option to have in the team.

2) Chennai Super Kings

CSK is one of the franchises that must target Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement if there are any injury problems. Defending champions CSK made the signing of Sameer Rizvi at IPL 2024 Auctions. It needs to be noted that he is not yet experienced at the highest level.

Even Ajinkya Rahane is not in great form. Hence, the No.3 role could be up for grabs. It is for this reason that a player like Sarfaraz could be a good choice here. As mentioned earlier, he is a good player of spin and could thrive in Chennai under the leadership of MS Dhoni. It could also be the right franchise for him to develop as a T20 player.
