3 players whom Mumbai Indians might release before next IPL

Mumbai Indians are still alive in IPL 2023 as they will lock horns with the reigning champions Gujarat Titans in qualifier 2 tonight

Mumbai Indians, despite losing two of their key bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer, have still managed to make their way into qualifier 2 of IPL 2023, which didn’t seem probable for them at one point of time.

It remains to be seen whether Mumbai now goes all the way and wins their 6th IPL title or their journey is cut short, but whatever happens in the remaining part of the tournament, Mumbai would still like reflect on the season and make some changes in their squad going ahead.

Here are the 3 players Mumbai Indians might release before next IPL –

Arshad Khan

Arshad Khan couldn’t justify his potential as a seam bowling allrounder despite the fact that he got several opportunities right at the start of the tournament. While it does look like Arshad has the ability to swing the new ball early on, he seems a little bit underprepared for the level of IPL yet.

Mumbai Indians might release Arshad Khan before next IPL and might buy him after a couple of years if he is still available in the auction.

Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen hasn’t played too many games for Mumbai in IPL 2023, but whatever games he has played so far, he hasn’t seemed like making a mark with the ball at any stage in any of the games.

Even in the eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants a couple of days ago, Shokeen proved to be very expensive in the only over he bowled on a helpful pitch. Shokeen is another player who might not find himself in the Mumbai Indians squad next season.

Arjun Tendulkar

Arjun Tendulkar finally got the opportunity to make his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing season, but in the three games that he played, he seemed to be lacking penetration and pace. In one of the games against Punjab Kings, Arjun gave away more than 30 runs in one over.

Although Arjun has performed well in domestic cricket recently, after he switched his state side from Mumbai to Goa last season, he couldn’t really do enough in IPL 2023 to enhance the possibility of getting retained by Mumbai Indians and he might also be released before next mini auction.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
