Fans on Twitter erupted in joy after India Women thrashes England women by 7 wickets to win the U19 World Cup. They lauded the young girls for their terrific performance throughout the tournament and said that they broke the knockout stage curse while taking a jibe at the senior Indian men’s team.

Indian U19 women’s team scripted history as they defeated England women by 7 wickets to win the inaugural edition of the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup. They produced a magnificent performance and thrashed the opposition in the final.

Asked to bowl first, it was a sensational effort from Indian bowlers as they were all over the batters and made a mockery of them. Titas Sadhu drew the first blood for her side as she removed Liberty Heap for a duck in the first over.

The first dismissal paved the way for other breakthroughs as Indian bowlers ran through their batting lineup. Sadhu along with Archana Devi and Parshavi Chopra picked two wickets each whereas Mannat Kashyap, Shafali Verma and Sonam Yadav bagged one wicket each to bundle out the opposition for just 68 runs.

Chasing the target, although India lost Shafali Verma (15) and Shewta Sehrawat (5) early, but Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha smashed 24 runs each and made sure they guide their side to win. They finished the game in 14th over and scripted history.
