Best T20I XI of 2023

2023 was obviously not the year for T20I cricket. With teams focussing on the 2023 ODI World Cup, not many seniors and regulars played in this format. In fact, some nations hardly played T20I cricket. Hence, when you look at the statistics, it is players from teams such as Uganda, UAE and Hong Kong who are dominating at the top. Nevertheless, we have constituted our playing XI mainly based on players from the top-flight nations. On that note, here, we take a look at the best T20I XI of 2023.

Openers: Phil Salt (WK) and Yashasvi Jaiswal

Phil Salt and Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the batting for this best T20I XI of 2023. The English wicket-keeper had a solid year in T20I cricket. Especially in the West Indies, he was in top form. The same goes with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who never failed to give a strong start to India. He also scored a century in 2023.

Middle-Order: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Nicholas Pooran and Rinku Singh

Despite playing fewer games, SKY still managed to reach No.3 in the list of highest run-getters for this year. He captains the side while former West Indies skipper Pooran makes it at No.4. Rinku Singh‘s numbers might not paint the picture of his performance. He was consistent and fulfilled the role perfectly for Team India.

All-Rounders: Mark Chapman and Sikandar Raza

Sikandar Raza scored six fifties and also collected 16 wickets. Hence, he is an obvious choice here. Mark Chapman delivered with the ball. His bowling would also be needed for this playing XI.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Taskin Ahmed and Richard Ngarava

Richard Ngarava is one of the pacers in this best T20I XI of 2023. Ravi Bishnoi reached No.1 on ICC’s charts, thanks to his consistent performances. He will lead the spin attack. Taskin Ahmed from Bangladesh did well while Arshdeep also redeemed himself with some fine displays.
