“He will break the 20 crore barrier,” Fans of IPL teams react on twitter as Sam Curran says he will return to IPL soon

The mini auction ahead of IPL 2023 has to be held on 16th of next month

The England allrounder Sam Curran, who turned out to be the most valuable player of T20 World Cup 2022 as he won both the player of the match award in the final and also the player of the tournament award, hinted after the game that he will put his name in the upcoming IPL mini-auction.

Sam Curran had kept himself away from the last season of IPL as he had just recovered from a lower back stress fracture. But, he has well recovered now and has had plenty of cricket under his belt in the last few months.

The southpaw, while talking to the press after the T20 World Cup final yesterday, also credited IPL for his evolution as a cricketer and said that IPL helped him deliver big performances under pressure because he got the opportunity to be in that kind of situation in IPL.

Sam Curran was involved in the IPL for Punjab Kings as well, but people started taking note of him as a serious T20 cricketer when he played for one of the biggest IPL teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

Sam Curran was at the top of his game in both IPL 2020 and 2021

Curran played for CSK in 2020 and 2021 and while CSK couldn’t make it to the playoffs in 2020, they won the title in 2021 and Curran, in both those seasons, showed that he has the temperament to do the job for CSK when the pressure is on.

Now it remains to be seen if CSK is able to buy Curran or not if he puts his name in the IPL auction next month. There will be other teams looking to bid for Curran as well and the allrounder is likely to go at a high price.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
