So many things are happening in IPL and many unexpecting things are set to happen in the next few weeks. The situation is such that we cannot predict a lot. Captaincy is a key aspect and interestingly, some players could get this responsibility although they have not been considered in recent years. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could surprisingly become permanent captains in IPL 2025.

1) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is all set to be released by Mumbai Indians. It needs to be noted that he is not in great form but teams could still go hard for him. A former U19 skipper, Ishan could be a surprising candidate to lead a franchise.

He already has the experience in IPL and at domestic level, there is leadership experience, as well. He is anyways going to be an important part of the side and hence, he could be an option for some teams.

2) Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana stands a chance to become a skipper in IPL 2025. He has one full-season experience as a captain for a popular franchise like KKR. Although the team did not do well, his attitude was good.

Provided he is also a key batter for the side, some teams could take a punt on him. With a domestic player as a captain, the balance improves. Hence, Rana could be a surprise option for teams such as LSG.

3) Axar Patel

Axar Patel is one of the players who could surprisingly become permanent captains in IPL 2025. He did get to captain a game in IPL 2024. Yes, he is also the vice-captain but not many see Axar as a captain material.

However, if Pant leaves DC, Axar should be the automatic choice to become the skipper. He has the experience to do that and it will also be a good challenge for him. Therefore, he is on this list.
