SV vs LIG: 2020 champions Southern Vipers will take on Lightning for the 4th match of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy 2021 on May 29 at The iconic Rose Bowl. The same venue will soon play host to the World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand.
Leading the charts last season, Vipers played their last game in the finals of the league against the Northern Diamonds. Skipper Georgina Adams contributed 80 runs to help her team finish with 232 runs on the board.
They bowled exceptionally well to contain the run flow and ended up emerging victorious after beating the Diamonds by 41 runs. With that victory, they were crowned “CHAMPIONS” of the 2020 edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Charlotte Taylor was adjudjed as the player of the match for her match-winning spelll of 6/34.
On the other hand, the Lightning played their last game against Central Sparks. The game began well with Lightning’s Sarah Bryce scoring a magnificent unbeaten 136, helping her team cross the 300 run mark.
For the chasing side, skipper Eve Jones scored a brilliant hundred that went in vain as they fell short by 55 runs.
Having won the previous edition of the league, Southern Vipers will start this season as favourites to defend the title.
