India’s star cricketer Suryakumar Yadav created an unwanted record in the recently-concluded ODI series against the Australian cricket team at home. He became the first Indian batter to register three golden ducks in three games.
In the first ODI against Australia at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, he fell prey to Mitchell Starc’s delivery as he was trapped for a leg before wicket. In the second ODI in Visakhapatnam, Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed in a similar fashion as well.
Coming to the third and final ODI in Chennai, the Indian team management didn’t send Suryakumar Yadav at No.4. THe right-handed batter came out to bat at No.6 and was clean bowled by Ashton Agar’s delivery.

Team India ran through a defeat in the ODI series decider as Australia went on to win the series by 2-1. After the game, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma backed Suryakumar Yadav after the latter’s failure in the ODI series against Australia.
The 35-year-old senior Indian cricketer backed Suryakumar Yadav by adding that the latter played only three balls in this series. He further added that he doesn’t really know how to look into it. Actually, Shreyas Iyer has been injured and which is why Suryakumar Yadav was asked to bat at No.4 in the ODI series.
Rohit Sharma also added that Suryakumar Yadav knows how to play spin well. Speaking on the same lines, Rohit Sharma said these sorts of series can happen to any player. He further added that Suryakumar Yadav has potential and ability.
Suryakumar Yadav is the No.1 ranked batsman in Twenty20 Internationals. However, he hasn’t been that impressive in One-Day Internationals. Having played 23 ODIs so far, he scored 433 runs at an average of 24.06 including two fifties.
The right-handed batsman will be next seen in action for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
