Strong Indian playing XI comprising players not selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup

On Tuesday, Team India’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup was announced. As it is with any squad, a few well-known names had to miss out. India has a strong depth when it comes to the T20 format and hence, a strong XI can be made from the players who could not make it to the final squad. Here, we take a look at a strong Indian playing XI comprising players not selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Openers: Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gill and Gaikwad have both been in good form in IPL 2024, especially the latter. While Gill was named as one of the travelling reserves, Gaikwad could not make the cut. Nevertheless, going forward, this duo will get more chances in the blue jersey.

Middle-Order: KL Rahul (C&WK), Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh

KL Rahul will lead this strong Indian playing XI comprising players not selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He has been in good form in the last few months and hence, it was a surprise that he missed the flight. Tilak Varma has done well for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. Rinku Singh‘s exclusion was a shock but he still has a chance to be a part of the squad.

All-Rounders: Abhishek Sharma and Washington Sundar

Abhishek Sharma was not given a chance but he will surely be in the T20I squad after the World Cup. Sundar’s game time in IPL 2024 could have been a major reason why he did not make it to the squad.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, K Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan and Sandeep Sharma

It will be an in-form bowling attack for this strong Indian playing XI comprising players not selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bishnoi was the No.1 ranked bowler recently in the T20I format. Hence, his exclusion is a big call by the selectors. In good form at the moment, Khaleel, Natarajan and Sandeep would form the pace attack.
