In recent years, ICC has been making efforts to bring the associate nations into the limelight. The various ICC events have engaged these nations regularly. Although there has been criticism on not having too many nations at the high-profile events, ICC has maintained a balanced stance. That said, for the associate nations to improve, the regular cricket-playing nations also need to contribute. In this article, we take a look at the Sri Lanka U19 team’s latest heartful gesture that is winning many on the internet.
Sri Lanka U19 team’s latest heartful gesture wins over the internet
In a warm-up game of the U19 World Cup that occurred recently, the Sri Lankan Team scored a huge win over Uganda. The Sri Lankans made 277 runs in the first innings and then managed to bowl out the opposition for just 46 runs. Uganda could survive just 21.2 overs against the Sri Lankans. Hence, the game got over pretty early.
However, not stopping there, the Sri Lankan Team spent extra time on the field and bowled at the Uganda batsmen. This was to give them some much-needed batting practice. It was a superb gesture because not many teams would risk an injury by going out of the way to help another team. Even the Uganda Team appreciated the efforts of the Sri Lanka teenagers.
Thank you @OfficialSLC for the kind gesture of giving us some batting practice after the main game.

Wonderful gesture by the management and @OfficialSLC. Sports is about freindship and unity. It breaks barriers and brings people together. Good luck to both teams. 🙏

Tough day out for the @CricketUganda U19 side, but as I keep saying the main thing for this squad is to learn and enjoy the experience
Also absolute class by @OfficialSLC to offer some more practice after the game. This is what this experience is all about for the #Uganda side https://t.co/nKBOrhb4hW

Sri Lanka beginning to improve at the international level
Meanwhile, it seems that Sri Lanka is back on its way to the top in international cricket. After the retirement of legends such as Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, the team struggled to make a proper transition. There was also plenty of issues associated with the board. However, Sri Lanka now seems to be improving. They had a fine outing in the recent T20 World Cup. The U19 Team is also strong, with the likes of Matheesha Pathirana already being tipped to have a great future.
