1) Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians triggered the bidding war to sign Pat Cummins. He would have been an ideal partner for Jasprit Bumrah.

However, MI did not have the budget to pursue further. Cummins would have been useful with his middle overs bowling at MI.

2) Chennai Super Kings wanted Pat Cummins for IPL 2024 before SRH signed him

CSK is one of the teams which bid for Pat Cummins in IPL 2024 Auctions before SRH signed him. Surprisingly, CSK also went after the World Cup-winning skipper.

CSK needed an experienced partner for Matheesha Pathirana. Hence, Cummins was a target. However, they did not go too hard for a player who was going to be the second overseas pacer.

3) Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB, despite the low purse, almost utilized it fully for Pat Cummins. They were desperate to sign the Australian bowler.

RCB wanted a future captain and a middle-overs enforcer. Eventually, the franchise signed Alzarri Joseph, which was not a great decision.
