“Rohit Sharma Should Not Lose Focus”- Saba Karim Feels Captain Rohit Must Concentrate On Batting Also

Former Indian selector Saba Karim has opined that the current Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma should not lose his focus from batting under the pressure of captaincy. Sharma became the captain of Team India late last year.

First, he was named the captain of the T20I team, and after that, he took over the reins in the ODI and the Test format of the game as well. While Sharma has played decent knocks for the Indian cricket team after becoming the captain, he has not scored big for the team.

Also, Rohit failed to get going in the final two matches of the 3-match T20I series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. Speaking on Khelneeti podcast, Saba Karim gave his opinion on Rohit Sharma and said:

“Rohit Sharma is in the XI because of his batting. Captaincy is an additional responsibility.”

Saba Karim recalled the previous captains’ performances when discussing Rohit Sharma

In the same discussion, Saba Karim mentioned how the players who were captains before Rohit Sharma lost their focus from the primary skill once they became the skippers. He added that this thing must not happen with Rohit.

“He should not lose focus with regards to batting. A lot of times we have seen that captains are not able to perform as well in their primary skill,” Karim added.

Rohit Sharma will now lead the Indian cricket team in a 2-match ICC World Test Championship series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. Fans should note that Sharma has not played Test cricket since the tour of England.

He missed the series against the South African cricket team because of an injury. The Hitman will be keen to play a big knock for the nation in his first ICC World Test Championship series as the Indian cricket team captain.
