Rohit Sharma gets into elite club with extraordinary record in T20 World Cup 2021

Rohit Sharma registered the highest individual score for India in T20 World Cup 2021

Rohit Sharma has become the first Indian player to hold the record of having the highest individual score for India in an ODI World Cup and in a T20 World Cup as well.

In the last ODI World Cup which was played in England in 2019, Rohit had scored 5 hundreds for India, but apart from that, he had also registered the highest individual score for the men in blues in the tournament with his thumping knock of 140 against Pakistan, which had resulted in a comfortable Indian victory.

And then again in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the UAE, Rohit registered the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the tournament as he scored 74 runs against Afghanistan and laid the foundation of a huge score with a brisk opening partnership with KL Rahul.

Rohit Sharma wouldn’t be too amused with his batting effort in T20 World Cup 2021

However, when Rohit Sharma looks back at T20 World Cup 2021, he would not really be satisfied with his batting effort because all his quality performances with the bat came in the last 3 games against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia, while in the first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand which were the most important of all the games, Rohit got out without scoring much.

Rohit’s effort with the bat in the ODI World Cup 2019 was much superior because of his consistency. He had scored hundreds against quality bowling attacks in the tournament and although he failed in the semifinal against New Zealand, it was still one of the greatest World Cups that any Indian batsman had with the bat since 2003.

While the elimination from the T20 World Cup 2021 will be hard to take for Rohit, he will have to move on quickly and focus on the next World Cup in Australia as he has been given the added responsibility of the full time T20 captaincy of India. The 34-year-old wouldn’t just want to showcase his leadership skills in the next T20 World Cup, he would want to lead India from the front with big individual scores again.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
