IPL 2022 is less than two weeks away. The reverse countdown to the mega event has begun, and all franchises have announced their captains for IPL 2022. There are some new faces and some experienced names.
Before IPL 2022 gets underway, in this article now, we will rank the captains of all franchises as per their previous performances as a leader.
10. Gujarat Titans – Hardik Pandya
It is tough to rank Hardik Pandya on this list because he has never captained before. Fans have not seen his captaincy in the IPL or international matches.
9. Punjab Kings – Mayank Agarwal
Like Hardik Pandya, Mayank Agarwal does not have much captaincy experience. Agarwal led PBKS in one match last year, where they lost to DC.
8. Rajasthan Royals – Sanju Samson
Wicket-keeper Sanju Samson made his captaincy debut in IPL 2021. His team could win only five out of 14 matches in the competition.
7. Lucknow Super Giants – KL Rahul
KL Rahul has captained an IPL team as well as the Indian team. However, his captaincy has not been so impressive. It will be interesting to see if that changes in IPL 2022.
6. Royal Challengers Bangalore – Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis performed well as South African captain. It remains to be seen if he can do the same job for RCB as their captain in IPL 2022.
5. Delhi Capitals – Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant led the Delhi Capitals to the playoffs in 2021. His captaincy was fantastic, and he will be keen to win his maiden trophy in IPL this year.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders – Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer moved from DC to KKR this year. He led DC to the playoffs in 2019, 2020 seasons. DC finished runners-up in 2020.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad – Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson beat Shreyas Iyer for a place in the Top 3 because he led SRH to IPL 2018 Final and has been impressive as the New Zealand cricket team captain.
1. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings – Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni
Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni totally deserve the number one position on the rankings. It is extremely tough to pick who is ahead of the other. Thus, both MI and CSK’s franchises captains hold the number one position.
