Predicting India’s playing 11 for the first ODI against New Zealand

The first game of the series is just a few hours away from now. It’ll be another opportunity for the Indian Cricket Team to find their correct balance and get their playing XI right ahead of the World Cup, which is slated to take place later this year.

There’s no doubt that skipper Rohit Sharma will open the innings alongside Shubman Gill. The duo did a terrific job in the series against Sri Lanka and are expected to continue the opening partnership.

Virat Kohli will bat at No.3 in the first ODI against New Zealand. But there’ll be a slight change beyond the top 3 in the series against the Black Caps. KL Rahul has been rested and therefore it is expected that Ishan Kishan will come straight into the mix and will bat at No.4

Shreyas Iyer also has been ruled out of the series against New Zealand. Therefore it’ll is expected that Suryakumar Yadav will be there in his place and will bat at No.5. Hardik Pandya is expected to retain his place at No.6 and also play a crucial role with the ball.

With no Axar Patel in the side, Washington Sundar is likely to play at No.7 and form a spin bowling unit with Kuldeep Yadav, who will be slated at No.8. Whereas Umran Malik, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj are expected to be the three frontline pacers in the team.
