Predicting Australia’s best XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Australia will, yet again, be one of the favourites at the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the ongoing IPL 2024, a few players are in great form and this bodes well for the 2023 ODI World Cup winners. On that note, here, we predict Australia’s best XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Openers: David Warner and Travis Head

David Warner may not be in great form but he is a player who is known to step up at big events. Also, due to his experience, Australia might stick with Warner. That said, if his poor form continues, Australia has plenty of options at the top of the order. Travis Head, of course, will play all the matches.

Middle-Order: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Marsh (C), Tim David, Matthew Wade (WK)

Jake Fraser-McGurk is a part of Australia’s best XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The form that the 22-year-old is in, it is hard to keep him out. That would bring Mitchell Marsh, the skipper if he is fit, to the middle-order. Tim David will be the designated finisher while Matthew Wade and Josh Inglis will fight for the wicket-keeper role.

All-Rounders: Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell might be in poor form at the moment. However, he did well for Australia in the last World Cup and hence, he would keep his place in the team. If he is not in good form, the likes of Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis could get a chance.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa

It will be the same bowling attack in Australia’s best XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Australia might go with their existing bowling line-up, at least, for the first few games. Players such as Spencer Johnson and Nathan Ellis will also be in the fray as backup pacers. Tanveer Sangha could be Adam Zampa’s backup in this squad.
