It was on 5th April 2017 that Rashid Khan made his IPL debut. Representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, his first game was against RCB. In IPL 2023, the Afghan cricketer is playing his 100th game in the competition. It has been a terrific ride for the leg-spinner, so far. Here, we take a look at the playing XI when Rashid Khan made his IPL debut.
Openers: Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner (C)
Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner were the openers in the playing XI when Rashid Khan made his IPL debut. Dhawan and Warner still have the same roles in IPL 2023 as they had way back in 2017.
While Dhawan is the skipper of Punjab Kings, Warner is leading Delhi Capitals in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Warner currently has a place in the national team, something that Dhawan does not have right now.
Middle-Order: Naman Ojha (WK)
Naman Ojha retired from all forms of the game a few years ago. However, he is very active when it comes to tournaments such as the Road Safety Series and other competitions mainly meant for retired cricketers. In fact, he has been in good form in these competitions.
All-Rounders: Moises Henriques, Yuvraj Singh, Deepak Hooda and Ben Cutting
Moises Henriques was amongst the all-rounders in this playing XI when Rashid Khan made his IPL debut. Moises Henriques and Ben Cutting are still active in the game. While Ben gets gigs across the globe, Moises has not been that lucky.
Yuvraj Singh retired a few years ago and also plays in tournaments meant for retired players. Deepak Hooda currently plays for LSG and has also played for Team India.
Bowlers: Bipul Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashish Nehra and Rashid Khan
Bipul Sharma recently made the move to the United States of America. He is pursuing a career there after retiring from Indian cricket.
Bhuvi is still in the SRH squad. He has lost out on a spot in the Indian Team but has time to make a comeback. Ashish Nehra is the coach of Gujarat Titans, the franchise that Rashid Khan currently operates at.
