BCCI challenges ICC’s decision of ‘poor’ rating for the Indore pitch as per Cricbuzz
After the exciting encounter between bat and ball, the series between India and Australia came to end. The hosts won the series by the margin of 2-1 and both the teams have booked their berth for the final of the World Test Championship.
For all four games, the pitches came under a lot of scrutiny. Among all the Indore pitch received a fair amount of criticism for the amount of turns it produced. The ball started turning from the first few minutes of the play and the pitch offered 4.9 degrees of turn, which was the most in the series.
The ICC rated the pitch as poor and the venue has been charged three demerit points. If the venue receives five points, then it will see the ground getting suspended from hosting any international cricket for 12 months.
However, it is now learned as per the Cricbuzz, the BCCI has lodged a formal appeal against ICC match referee Chris Broad’s condemnation of the pitch and the governing body will now have to take a formal call within 14 days.
Following BCCI’s appeal, a two-member committee of the ICC general manager and chairman of the Cricket Committee will review Broad’s assessment.
