PER vs PAR: Peru will take on Paraguay in the first quarter-final of the Copa America On Saturday.
With two wins and a draw from four games, Peru finished second in Group B. Paraguay, on the other hand, won two matches and lost as many games in the league phase. They ended third in Group A of Copa América points table.
Paraguay played Uruguay in their last group stage encounter. Uruguay was granted an early penalty in the 21st minute and Edinson Cavani smashed it in the back of the net to make it 1-0. Unfortunately with that being the only goal, Paraguay ended up on the losing side.
However, there were smiles all around in the Peru camp as they bagged a 1-0 win over Venezuela in their last match. After a tough first half, Peruvian midfielder André Carrillo put one in the top of the net off a lucky deflection from a swirling incoming corner delivery. That did the trick for Peru as they walked back with a win.
Peru has been doing exceptionally well in the tournament and Paraguay will be hoping to play their cards right in order to assert their dominance over the opposing side.
