Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by eight wickets to win their first-ever ODI World Cup game against Pakistan. Now, the road looks difficult for the 1992 champions. That said, there is still a chance for them to reach the semis. On that note, here, we take a look at how Pakistan can still qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup Semi-Finals.

Here is how Pakistan can still qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup Semi-Finals

The equation is simple for Pakistan right now. There are four games left for the former champions and the Babar Azam-led squad must win all of them to reach the semi-finals of the competition. They must also have an eye on the NRR to ensure that they will get a chance to reach the semis if they happen to win all four of their remaining games.

Afghanistan was brilliant on the day in Chennai. With the ball, it looked like Afghanistan had lost out on a chance after conceding a target over the excess of 280. However, with the bat, the Afghans had a good start with the bat and that ensured the win for then. The likes of Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran did well and then, Rahmat made a good follow-up to keep Afghans in the hunt. In the end, it was all about keeping the calm to get over the line.

A tough road ahead for the squad

Pakistan has some tough games in the next few days. They will face the likes of England, New Zealand and South Africa in their remaining matches.

All these squads will also want to win their games so that they reach the semis. Hence, it will be a challenging ride for the Pakistan Team. That said, they have done it before and the fans will hope for the same in the coming weeks.
