Many reports suggest that Gujarat Titans and Ashish Nehra are set to part ways. The reasons, though, are not known. It will be a big move because Ashish was successful for GT barring the last season. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three options Gujarat Titans must target if Ashish Nehra resigns as Head Coach.
1) Ricky Ponting
Ricky Ponting recently said that he would be inclined to return to the IPL as a Head Coach. Recently, Delhi Capitals and Ricky parted ways. However, considering the tactician that he is, GT can target Ricky Ponting.
For the Aussie, as well, GT would be a good place to resume his coaching career in IPL. The team has a good core and some fine young players. The likes of Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan are for the future. These reasons could make him take up the role.
2) Shane Watson
Shane Watson is one of the options Gujarat Titans must target if Ashish Nehra resigns as Head Coach. Watto is doing well as a Head Coach in various leagues across the globe.
If GT is looking for a young coach with fresh ideas, Watson would be ideal for the side. He would bring that freshness to the side. Since not many have seen his coaching skills in IPL, he brings that unpredictability, as well.
3) Yuvraj Singh
As per reports, Gujarat Titans is already in touch with Yuvi as the next candidate for the Head Coach role. If not for these credible news items, Yuvi probably would not have been on this list mainly because he does not have Head Coach experience.
Nevertheless, Yuvi was a great T20 player for India and would be a decent choice. It will be interesting to see the tactics and how he can coach a team in the IPL.
