The Pakistani wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has come out in support of the Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami who has come for a bit of criticism after his performance in the game against Pakistan last Sunday.
Shami was India’s most expensive bowler against Pakistan as he conceded more than 40 runs at an economy rate of over 10, when the required run rate for Pakistan was just a tad above 7.5 per over.
However, that can happen to any bowler in the world and some of the comments that were posted on Shami’s Instagram handle in the aftermath of the game were really in bad taste.
Mohammad Rizwan was one of the standout performers for Pakistan against India
Mohammad Rizwan, who was one of the key contributors towards Pakistan’s first ever victory in the World Cups against India, posted a tweet earlier today where he wrote that a player has to sacrifice a lot to reach a level where he gets the opportunity to represent his country.
Once a player represents his country, he always gives the best to his abilities to try and help the team win the game, but sometimes it doesn’t happen because it’s only a game. Rizwan, through his tweet, insisted and appealed to the Indian fans to respect stars like Shami.
The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is immeasurable. @MdShami11 is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world

Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, many of the former Indian players also came out in support of Shami yesterday, including the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar himself who posted on twitter that Shami has been a world class bowler for India for a long time and he firmly stands behind Shami and the Indian team.
When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11 is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have.

Shami is expected to feature for India in their second World Cup game against New Zealand next Sunday as he is one of the first choice fast bowlers for the men in blue. He will most likely take the new ball against the Kiwis in a do or die game for India.
