The scales may have tipped over in recent times as West Indies has completely got off the hook and are no longer the world power that they used to be previously. However, back in the 1980s, they were once a force that could never be tamed. From a mix of legends to the uprising rebels who would have a safe transition for the upcoming generation, West Indies managed to impose themselves in fine fashion. Who is now known as the voice of cricket for India, Harsha Bhogle was already ruling the mic back in 1988.

It was a low-scoring match as West Indies batted first and had some early troubles to deal with, as they lost two big wickets in the form of Richie Richarson and Jeff Dujon. After an early show of stability, Phil Simmons fell too, allowing India to sniff a breach.

Here is how the India West Indies match went by as Harsha Bhogle rocked the mic

The icon Vivian Richards who was captaining West Indies back then was castled clean by Amarnath. Gus Logie and Carl Hooper did manage to stabilize the innings but it was Kris Srikkanth who left the opposition stumbling already.

Eldine Baptiste who could smash 31 runs to help West Indies stabilize their ship but it was a straight plunge into madness from thereon. Another significant help provided by India to West Indies was the extras column that read a staggering 21 runs.

Srikkanth was elemental with the bat as he hammered 53 with the blade wherein there was no help whatsoever from the other end. India would eventually fall short of the finish line by a paltry 2 runs despite the best of efforts from Kapil Dev.

This is what Instagram had to say about Harsha Bhogle and Iftikhar Ahmed sharing the commentary box

In a more interesting fact, it was Harsha Bhogle who would shuffle between English and Hindi alongside Iftikhar Ahmed behind the mic. As nostalgia would reign over, Harsha Bhogle’s Instagram post drew a lot of remarks that would make any commentator happy just to walk down the memory lane once more.
