“Nobody Can Do That”- Tony Khan Says No Wrestler Can Fill Top AEW Star’s Shoes

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the press ahead of the Worlds End pay-per-view, which will take place on December 30. It will be the final AEW PPV of the year 2023, and one big name, who will miss the show is former world champion Kenny Omega.

Kenny made a shocking post on his X account and informed the fans that he will be out of action for the foreseeable future. The former world champion is suffering from diverticulitis, and there is no timeframe set for his return to pro wrestling.

Ahead of AEW Worlds End, Tony Khan spoke about the important of Kenny Omega on his company’s roster and said:

“It affected a lot of things, it affected a lot of stuff. When you lose a star like Kenny Omega, the dominoes start to drop.”

“Frankly, you’re not going to try and put anybody to fill Kenny Omega’s shoes. Nobody’s—nobody can do that, there’s only one Kenny Omega. So I thought the right thing to do would be to change the card and rebuild things and try and do something to cover it in an exciting way, and instead of one partner for Chris Jericho, he’s got three partners,” he added.

Fans expect Tony Khan to deliver a solid AEW show on December 30

Fans have high hopes from AEW Worlds End because Dynamite recently defeated RAW in the ratings war, and if the company can deliver a solid show, they can continue that momentum in the year 2024. Although Dynamite got more viewers than RAW this week, some fans feel that AEW is losing its steam.

Tony Khan will have to deliver a blockbuster show on December 30 to ensure that 2024 is the year of his company. Some of the biggest names of the pro wrestling world will be in action at Worlds End. It will be interesting to see what happens on the show.
