Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant on Friday (30th December) met with a tragic accident that saw him getting hospitalised. The southpaw was travelling from Delhi to Dehradun to surprise his mother and celebrate New Year together.
However, between Manglaur and Narsan in Haridwar he dozed off and as a result, his car collided with the divider and caught fire. He was immediately taken out of the car and shifted to lock hospital before being referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun.
It is learned as per the reports that Pant was coming home to surprise his mother and there was a plan to hang out with his mother and family on the occasion of New Year.
Although the extent of the injuries is yet to be known, but the 25-year-old is out of danger and is stable. The keeper batter has suffered two lacerative wounds on his forehead along with a ligament tear in the knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasions on his back.
The 25-year-old underwent MRI scans, the reports which reportedly have suggested that his brain and spinal cord are all fine. However, the result of the MRI of his knee is yet to be known.
As per the reports in TOI, it is learned that the keeper batter will take at least 3-6 months to recover from a ligament injury. However, if the injury happens to be severe, he is likely to be out for more time.
“Rishabh Pant will at least take 3-6 months to recover from a ligament injury. It can be even more if it’s severe,” Report in TOI suggested
Pant notably, is not part of any of the Indian squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka. He was scheduled to go to National Cricket Academy (NCA) for strength and conditioning before the Test series against Australia in February.
It is also learned he was to miss the ODI series against New Zealand as well. However, with him suffering injuries, it is not known how much time will he take to recover and get match fit.
