Fans had high hopes because of the rumors, but most of the rumors proved to be incorrect. The show opened with a six-woman tag team match. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss crossed swords with Team Damage Control. Bayley, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai emerged victorious in their first PLE match as a faction.
Gunther then defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus. The match delivered big time, and some even billed it as Match of the Year. Many fans wanted Sheamus to become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE by capturing the Intercontinental Championship. However, he fell short against the Austrian Superstar.
