“Virat Kohli, you absolute beauty,” Twitter reacts in disbelief as Virat Kohli pulls off a one-handed match-winning catch against Australia at Gabba

India and Australia were facing each other in a T20 World Cup warm match today at the Gabba

Today’s warm-up game between India and Australia went all the way down to the wire and eventually, it was a one-handed catch by Virat Kohli at the long on the boundary which sealed the deal for India.

India had to defend just 11 runs in the last over of the game and Australia had two big hitters at the crease in the form of Pat Cummins and Jos Inglis. Since the pitch was good to bat on, the target seemed to be within the reach of the Aussies and even though Mohammed Shami was bowling good, with total deliveries, Pat Cummins managed to get under one and tried to lift it over the long-on boundary.

Since India didn’t have too many runs to defend in the last over, Virat Kohli had not positioned himself right at the boundary line. He was inching a bit closer so that he could rush quickly towards the 30-yard circle in case the Aussie batsmen tapped and tried to go for two runs.

Virat Kohli showed tremendous athleticism at long on the boundary

When Pat Cummins lifted it, it seemed to be going over the head of Kohli who was a little bit in, however, the supreme athleticism of Kohli came to his rescue as he got back quickly and then timed his jump to perfection to grab a one-handed game-changing catch to turn the game in India’s favor.

It happened on the third ball of the over after which Shami delivered three back-to-back yorkers and all Australia could get off those three balls was one run, losing the game by 6 runs from a stage where the chase looked like a walk in the park for them.

The Indian fans on Twitter were slightly surprised by India’s death bowling today as death bowling has been a significant worry for India for a long time. Here are the Twitter reactions after India beat Australia in the warm-up game following that one-handed catch by Virat Kohli –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
